The Friends of Caversham Preparatory School (FoCPS) was formed in January 2010. The main aim of the FoCPS is for parents and friends of the school to help to support the aims and ethos of the school as well as to help to build an important social element to the school. The FoCPS gained charity status in 2013.
The FoCPS are never asked to provide anything for the school that would be considered under the normal school budget. Any large items bought by the FoCPS (such as the climbing frame) are always fund-matched by the school.
The Friends organise social events for the school, predominately for the children as well as parents. Some of the activities and events that we organize include:
Although the primary focus is to enhance the community spirit across the whole school we are also proud of our fundraising, having recently raised money for: the schools’ climbing frame, sensory garden, playground equipment, sports equipment and Christmas toys as well as donating money to local charities, most recently Guide Dogs for the Blind.
How you can help?
The Friends meet twice a term; the open meetings are held in the school and generally run from 8 pm to 9.30 pm, the Head Teacher is always present. There is an AGM once a year in May.
The Friends encourage new members and volunteers and are grateful for as much or as little help you are able to offer. The more people involved, the more we can achieve for the children. Please contact one of the committee if you would like to join or to volunteer to help in any other way. As parents of children at Caversham Preparatory School, you are automatically members of the Friends.
I am proud to say there is a real commitment and enthusiasm at Caversham Preparatory School. The Friends and the teachers all work well together to make the school a great place for our children and there is a real sense of community and family. Our goal along with raising money for the school is always to have fun and that’s why we are keen to get as many parents involved with various events and activities.
